Digital Metal® expands operations and increases capacity

Serial creation of high-precision DM P2500 3D metal printer and complex metal elements bolstered

Höganäs, Sweden. – [January 23rd, 2018] – Digital Metal®, the world’s very first high-precision 3D metal printer provider, is expanding its operations, increasing the Höganäs plant production area by 50 %, to aid serial production of the DM P2500 and brand new elements. Since starting in September 2017, the increased demand has additionally led to the need to employ more designers, professionals and product sales employees, and financial investment in brand new products R&D.

“due to the great interest, we’re now beginning serial creation of our devices,” claims Ralf Carlström, General management at Digital steel. “The very first group will include six brand new printers containing the latest automation electronics. Furthermore, we reduced the entire dimensions for the device, rendering it more easily placed at client websites. While our existing equipment will undoubtedly be upgraded to the most advanced technology at precisely the same time.”

The distinctive feature of Digital steel’s binder jetting strategy is that the components tend to be printed and sintered rather than becoming melted along with lasers, providing superior quality and detail reliability. In addition, the production speed is somewhat greater than other 3D printing technologies.

The production plant and office in Höganäs are going to be broadened by 50 per cent. This can include installing a brand new cleaner extraction system and enhanced compression and air conditioning power, that may allow Digital Metal to increase its sintering capability. There may also be another space for quality control and an isolated space for printing with materials that want unique management.

“By developing our variety of products, we are able to develop new collaborations with businesses in sectors like aerospace, in which there clearly was a great requirement for components that can resist extremely high temperatures, made with superalloys,” says Ralf Carlström.

“For us, this development is simply a newbie,” adds Ralf Carlström. “We are no much longer thinking linearly. Instead, we are primed for exponential development.”

About Digital Metal
Digital Metal is the world’s first business to commercialize high-precision 3D metal printers the production of small, high-volume components. Digital Metal’s proprietary binder jetting technology allows producing top-quality complex objects with exceptional surface finish, that will be impossible with contending technologies. The organization also offers manufacturing of material elements. One of the clients tend to be most earth’s leading technology companies including Honeywell, Koenigsegg, Mectron, Montfort Watches, CETIM (the French Specialized Center for technical Industries) and Volvo. Digital Steel had been created in 2012 and has now its head office in Höganäs. The business is part regarding the Höganäs Group, the world’s largest producer of metal powders.
